Just when I think it’s safe…

Posted in Life on October 31st, 2007 by Administrator

I go and break my toe.  Actually, I had a little help from my lovely children.  My wonderful, yet selectively deaf son had out a battery earlier today.  Not a regular battery, but one of those battery packs used in remote control toys.  I told him to put it away, which of course he promptly ignored and left it sitting on the counter.  So later, I find my 4 year old with the connecting end in her mouth.  I scold her for putting things in her mouth then go to take it away, only before I could get ahold of it, she let go and now the piggy who got none is swollen and black and blue.

I’m telling you all, it’s the little things, good or bad, that keep life interesting and I’m sure come tomorrow, when I need to put my shoes on, things will be very interesting.

Could you be a vampire?

Posted in Uncategorized on October 29th, 2007 by Administrator

This is really stupid and a little lame, but since I was already on the subject and it’s nearly Halloween, I figured what the hey!

You Could Be a Vampire… If You Had To

Like most people, the thought of being a vampire has crossed your mind. But you’re not sure if you’d do it, even if you could.

Living forever doesn’t sound half bad, if you could live forever with the people you love the most.

But do vampires even love? And would the vampire version of you even be you?

It’s all too much to contemplate. Luckily, the chances of you ever becoming a vampire are astronomically low. What you would like best about being a vampire: Living forever

What you would like least about being a vampire: Blood stained teeth

Have any of you out there seen Moonlight on Friday nights on CBS?  I’m not generally one for vampires, but I’m quickly finding a new found fascination for them.  It doesn’t hurt that Alex O’Loughlin (Mick St. John) is just down right yummy!  If you get the chance, I highly recommend you check it out.

Tuesday Hump?

Posted in Life, Writing on October 23rd, 2007 by Administrator

Generally it’s Wednesday that people refer to as hump day, but when you’re supposed to be off of work for the winter and get called in for a day, that day becomes hump day.  In my case it’s Tuesday.  Yep, my boss has called me in to work today.  Now for most of you, you’re probably going what’s the big deal, right?  I mean it’s only one day.  Fundamentally, I tend to agree, but I’ve been on a roll working on my latest story ‘Best of Intentions’ and yesterday alone write just a little over 4k.  The fact that I have to stop and put my mind into other things makes me a little nervous that I’ll lose my forward motion and get stuck with it nearly done.

Any of you writers out there with ‘real life’ jobs have any tips you might want to share for not losing that writing karma when you simply can’t write?

What Flavor Frappuccino are you?

Caramel Frappuccino

Creative and expressive, you tend to match your Frappuccino flavor to your mood. And a flavored syrup is always a must!

What Flavor Frappuccino Are You?

So I was feeling a bit weird this morning putzing around on the internet and stumbled across this quiz.  Would you believe this is the exact flavor I get every time I go?

Take the test and share your results in the comments.  Come on…you know you want to!

Internet Coding Challenged!

Posted in Uncategorized on October 19th, 2007 by Administrator

There are those days when after being up for a few hours, I realize I should have stayed in bed.  Today seems to be one of those days.  Oh, it all started out innocent enough, with me checking my e-mail and dropping by a few of my favorite blogs.  Then it all went awry!  A message on my e-mail led me to myspace where I discovered something had went terribly wrong with my page.  After stumbling through four hours worth of html coding mistakes and corrections I finally have the damn thing back up and looking the way it’s supposed to, but I’ve got nothing done in the house and will now have to spend my afternoon cleaning instead of writing.  That Bites!!!

What I want to know is how is it that when you don’t touch anything something can go wrong?  Why do they make the damn coding for this crap so hard? And why didn’t I just stay in bed this morning?

So is anybody else out there internet coding challenged like me?  Maybe we can start a support group or something.

Winter- Thumbs up or Thumbs down?

Posted in Life on October 17th, 2007 by Administrator

I’ll admit it…I’m a Grinch when it comes to the winter months and I’m not really a fan of fall either.  The time change almost always puts me into a depression as I watch the sun disappear earlier and earlier each day, shrouding me in darkness.  It’s a time when inevitably more money flows out our door than in.  Between all the crap that the schools bonk you for at the beginning of the year (fundraisers, book orders, school pictures, field trip money, etc…  Plus there’s Halloween costumes, new coats, boots and snow suits to buy and of course Christmas presents.

Aside from the money, I simply can’t stand cold weather.  I hate being cold.  I don’t ski or ice skate or do any of that winter activities stuff that others love and I can’t stand driving on ice ore shoveling snow.

Yet, this year, I actually have a reason to be excited about winter.  My real job, the one that makes the money to help pay the bills, is working for a pool and spa dealer.  Since winter is their slow time, I’m officially on lay off until spring.  This means all the project I put off during the summer can now get done.  I means more writing, blog hopping and working on my hobby with the hopes of turning it into a career.  It also means I’ll be able to make some  gifts this year and bake cookies, maybe even work on losing some weight.  Nope, this winter will be a bit different.  Though I’ll probably still be depressed about losing the sun and living in the cold, I’ll also have reasons to be excited.

So how about you?  Yes or no to winter and why?

New Contract

Posted in Writing on October 16th, 2007 by Administrator

I’m happy to announce a new contract for my contemporary romantic suspense novel, currently titled ‘A Lover’s Ransom’.  I’m thrilled to be working with the great editors at The Wild Rose Press to make this story the best it can be.

Check out my website and myspace page for more info on this upcoming story.

More writing?

Posted in Life on October 15th, 2007 by Administrator

Hi everyone,

I know it’s been awhile since I last posted anything, but a family emergency had us leaving town and leaving behind our internet connection.  Unfortunately, my Grandparents were in a very serious car accident and we had to head back to our hometown.  My step-grandfather didn’t survive his injuries, but thankfully, my grandmother did, though she is still in criticial condition and will probably remain in ICU for a few more weeks.

Meanwhile, my mother, who we stayed with, has yet to catch up to the 21st century and does not own a computer.  Since my husband and I both have cable hook ups with wireless connections for our laptops the thought of even attempting dial-up seemed like too much effort.   So we went without.

Finally, late last week we returned home, I finished my last week of ‘real work’ and am now off for the winter. YAY!  Today, for the first time in over six months I’m curled on the couch in my comfy pajamas preparing to write something for the day.  Hopefully, barring any future complications things will start to settle now and I can get mega amounts of writing done.
