Okay, so I’m still feeling like crap from this cold, so instead of some deep insightful blog, I’m wimping out and going for the cheep laugh.  Come and play along.  Do the quiz and leave your results in the comments, then be sure to have a great weekend!

The sick house

Despite my best efforts to fight it, I’ve finally succumb to the cold germ that has infiltrated my humble abode.  Last week, my four year old was sick, no doubt she picked it up from another child in her preschool class.   All week I tended to her, praying that neither I nor anybody else in the house would get it.  No such luck.

Even as I sit here typing this post I’m listening to my 10 year old cough his head off from his room where he’s playing his PS2 and I’m stopping to blow my nose about every two minutes.  My son is one who hates to take medicine and will only do it on the threat of punishment.  I’ll be wielding that threat in about an hour when it’s time for bed.  I on the other hand can’t wait until the kiddos are tucked away under their covers so that I can make a date with Mr. NyQuil and get some much needed rest.

It’s frustrating because I have things that need to be done, my house is a wreck (thanks to my now well little girl), there’s edits on stories I need to finish and probably a list as long as my arm of things I’ve forgotten to do, all because this cold has reduced me to a lump of sneezing flesh.  Wish me luck on getting rid of this by Saturday, that’s the day for the Christmas party for my husband’s work and if any of you have any remedies you might want to share for speeding up the process, please feel free!

Isn’t it Beautiful?

I’m so very exited to share my new cover for my Romantic Suspense Novel ‘Ransomed Heart’ which will be released Summer ‘08 at The Wild Rose Press.  Romance author Rae Monet created the cover and I think she did a fantastic job.   To check out more of her work go to www.raemonet.com

Death of a metal pioneer…

KEVIN DUBROW 1955-2007

I’m very saddened to hear of the passing of Kevin DuBrow, lead singer for the 1980’s heavy metal band Quite Riot.  The band hit it big during my formative years, introducing me to the ‘devil’s music’ as the PMRC once called it.  They along with bands like Motley Crew and Dokken made up the soundtrack of my teenage life, helping to create memories I’ll  carry with me always.   It is a sad day for rock-n-roll as we mourn the death of Kevin and say goodbye to yet another pioneer of metal.

Good News Monday!

If any of you read Anne Douglas’s blog  www.annedouglas.blogspot.com then you already know about this as she posted her good news on Friday.  However, I was still waiting for confirmation and didn’t want to jinx it.

Anyway…My friend and fellow writing partner Anne Douglas recently made a pitch to her publisher Loose Id for an idea she had to do a 3 book series about relationships and what happens after the happily ever after.  After a little back and forth between us and the editor-n-chief, they’ve accepted our stories.  The series, tentatively titled ‘Husbands and Wifes’ or in Anne’s case ‘Husbands and Wives and Lovers’ will be rounded out by the third member of our team, Amanda Young. www.amandayoung.org

Because Amanda usually writes gay romance her story’s tentative title will be ‘Husbands and Husbands’.  Each story will come with a subtitle so-to-speak, but you’ll have to wait to find out what those will be.  Don’t worry though, you won’t have to wait long as the stories are scheduled for release right around Valentine’s Day 2008.  So stay tuned for updates!

Progress Report

Posted in Writing on November 25th, 2007 by Administrator

So I’m done with the project I started just a few short weeks ago, but I have a new/old project to work on.  I’m expecting edits next month and after a brief discussion with my editor, we’ve decided to expand the work and make the story a bit more complete than as it sits now.  So, I have until the 10th to do any and all additions to my story before she starts slashing it apart.  Busy, busy, busy, I am!  Guess it’s a good thing that I’m getting no new episodes of Moonlight for three weeks, that way I can’t be distracted, lol.

Yep, that’s me. Now I normally don’t blog on the weekends.  Why?  I don’t really have an answer for that other than I just don’t.  However, I find myself wanting to share my thoughts again.  The fact is, I’m hooked on a show that’s a bit hokey and nothing like I’d normally watch.  Is it simply that I find Alex O’Loughlin HOT!?  Maybe, but I don’t think that even a really hot guy would be enough to make me watch if the show itself wasn’t good on some level.  Last night I sat on the edge of my seat waiting for Mick to finally realize that Morgan was actually Coraline.  Then Beth comes along and may have killed her in the end?  GRRR…I really wanted to throw something at the TV when it was over.  My heart pulls for Mick and his happiness, whether that’s with Coraline or Beth I really don’t care.  Though the fact that I’m that much into the story, I think lends credit to Alex O’Loughlin’s talent as an actor.  He really makes you feel for his character.  Now I have to wait 3 weeks for the next episode to see if Coraline lives, dies or if Mick must turn her into a vamp once again to save her life.  Wouldn’t that be an interesting turn of events?  I the meantime I guess I’ll go back to my writing and editing, but I’m telling you somewhere in my future is a vampire story waiting to be written, thanks to this show.

So are there any other Moonlight junkies willing share you love for this strange yet fresh story?

Are you a Black Friday shopper?

When I hear the term Black Friday I shudder.  Despite the temptation of ‘blockbuster’ deals at 5:00 am I never go shopping on Black Friday.  Why, you ask?  Because I learned a long time ago that I don’t have a lot of patience for nonsense and generally when you put a  bunch of women in a store with huge sales, there’s nonsense.  Of course add to that the fact that I’m just a tinge claustrophobic and sending me out to shop on Black Friday is a disaster waiting to happen.  All those people milling around, invading my space and closing in on me tends to wig me out.  Yes, I’m also one of those people who hates elevators too.

Anyway, that being said, all my major shopping was done weeks ago and what’s left is all things I could purchase if I needed to at one of the stores in the local strip mall.  Nope, I will spend Black Friday digging the Christmas tree out of the attic and putting up the associated decorations.

So to those of you who battle the crowds and live to shop I salute you.  Enjoy your great deals cause you’re a better woman than I am.

WARNING, POLITICAL RANT AHEAD.  IF YOU’RE EASILY OFFENDED DO NOT READ ON!

Now it’s not too often that I feel the need to seriously rant about things, but this really got under my skin.

Yesterday, as I perused yahoo catching up on the news of the world, I came across an article about one of my favorite shows when I was a child…Sesame Street.   Now granted, neither of my kids ever really got into the PBS show, but after watching a couple of episodes with them, I understood why.  Elmo, the little prozac junkie was more than annoying enough to turn me off.  Sitting through just one episode of the show inside the show ‘Elmo’s world’ was like pure torture with his goldfish named Dorothy and Mr. Noodle’s brother Mr. Noodle.   And if any of your are wondering what happened to the original Mr. Noodle.  Well, he died and was replaced without even a mention of his passing.  Back in the day, when the shop keeper Mr. Hooper died an entire episode was dedicated to him and people cried and mourned his passing.  But no, now a day we skim over the subject as if by talking about it, we’d risk bringing back the plague.  God forbid we traumatize our children with the reality of death!

Yet I digress… Okay, so Sesame Street today isn’t my Sesame Street.  I was willing to let that go, until some pussy-whipped executives terrified of being sued by morons screaming about political correctness decided put a warning label on the first two seasons released on DVD.

These early ‘Sesame Street’ episodes are intended for grown-ups and may not suit the needs of today’s preschool child.”

So exactly what’s so different from the preschool child of today and when I was a kid that they can’t handle the early episodes of this show?  Well, there’s nothing different about the children as they are nothing more than products of their environments.  No, the problems isn’t with the children, it’s with their tree hugging, global warming screaming, politically correct parents, who can’t stand to have little Billy disappointed or sad, because it might hurt his self-esteem.  Have we really become a country of easily offended softies who think it’s damaging to a child’s Psyche to have tests corrected in red ink, believing instead that being told he’s stupid in purple would be much better.  That children’s little league games always end in a tie because it’s not okay for our kids to lose? COME ON PEOPLE!  We are not doing our children any favors by teaching them that everything should be fair.  LIFE is ugly, mean and most of the time unfair and man-o-man are some of these kids who are being raised on the belief that they’re special and everyone should cater to them, going to be in for a rude awakening when they grow older.  You wonder why teens shoot other teens, why kids steal, lie and end up in jail?  It’s because they haven’t been taught how to handle disappointments and hurt feelings when they were little.

Let’s stop the insanity before it’s too late.  I say so what if Cookie monster ate nothing but cookies. That was after-all why he was called COOKIE MONSTER and Oscar the Grouch was a taste of reality, as nearly every one of us knows somebody who is perpetually grouchy.  As I read on in the article, I discovered that the list of grievances went on and on, getting more absurd as they went.  Each example cited only served to aggravate me more.

I have to say, the more I hear stuff like this, the more worried I become about our nation as a whole.  This isn’t just about Sesame Street.  It’s only become the latest victim in a much bigger problem.  If we as a nation don’t grow some balls and start getting tough again, we’re going to be in serious trouble and people, it better be sooner than later cause time is running out.
