Resolutions?

I’ve never been one to make resolutions.  It just seems silly to me to make promises to myself that I know I’m going to break.  Though I do understand the reasons for it.  Have a fresh new year in front of you, gives you the strength to want to change, at least for those first few days.  Then reality sets in and you suddenly realize that life is going to get in the way of your goals and you must give up things you once loved in order to stay the course.  My husband is not so much making a resolution this year as he is wanting to make a life change.  We MUST start eating better as we’re all overweight (well except dollbaby) and not only is it no healthy it’s not good for our images.

So, I find myself at a crossroads.  Because he has high cholesterol we can’t do the Atkins diet, so that means more fruits and veggies and less of everything I love.  I have a feeling I’m going to get really cranky without my pasta and bread, but I’ll be losing weight because I hate most everything I’ll be having to cook…sigh!   What about you guys, do you do resolutions and have you ever succeeded in achieving any?

Still Away

So I’ve managed to steal away a few minutes to post and say hi.  I’ve of course been sick all week, thanks to dollbaby’s cold.  I also think I’m allergic to cats and my mother has two…sigh.   Sunday we’re heading back so I’ll be starting to post regularly again after the new year.  Exciting things are going to be happening then.  I have books scheduled for release in March, April, May and probably july/august. We haven’t decided on a date for the last one yet.  I’m currently working on edits for the April release and then plan on finishing up a story author Amanda Young and I are working on together.

Even though I’ve been hit with a recent setback,  two of my three editors will be leaving their respective companies to pursue their own writing careers, I’m trying to keep my head high and my mood optimistic.  I’ve been assured by one of my editors and the respective publisher that I will not see any change in the way my story is handled.

So, though I’ll be starting 2008 on a bit of a down slide , digging out of problems, I’m looking forward to a bright and fulfilling 2008.  Take care everybody and I’ll talk to you all in the new year.

Fluffy Sock Addiction

I miss the feeling of rushing down to a tree loaded with presents and the sweet sleepy anticipation the night before. It was so easy to create those huge lists from toy catalogs and TV commercials. I could try to relive youth this year, but I’m not sure how excited I’d be to get a BMX dirt bike again. LOL

As I endeavor to think of what I want for Christmas, I look around and realize I have about everything I need. Knick-knacks collect dust on the shelves. I’m already piles behind on my book reading and almost feel guilty putting more on my list… almost. I got my dream coffee pot last year and have amazingly managed not to break any coffee mugs since then. So, this year, I’ve decided to tell everyone I want fluffy socks. You know the kind–the pretty knitted, so comfortable you feel guilty walking fluffy socks. I love them. A reader gave me a pair for Christmas last year and I’ve been addicted ever since (Thanks, A!)

So, what are you all putting on your Christmas lists this year?

Writing

Hi everyone.  Michelle has invited me to post something here while she’s away on vacation.  Apparently, internet access is a bit sporadic where she’s going so she was afraid she wouldn’t be able to post every day. She’s a bit overwhelmed too, I think.  I know I’ve been really busy.  Bit off more than I could chew.  Know what I mean?  Have you ever done that?

I’m sure most of you are familiar with NANORIMO.  Well I tried to write a novel in 30 days; a 50,000 word novel, mind you.  Didn’t happen.  But I do have nearly 24k of my new novel done in rough draft, of course.  At the same time I was working on the novel, I had the bright idea to take on a six weeks writing class too.  If it had just been any old writing course I might have made both.  But it wasn’t.  It was spectacular.  Any of you read Lori Wilde’s work? (check it out at http://www.loriwilde.com ) Take my word for it she’s good at writing and teaching it.  But…I couldn’t get a grip on my novel because there were so many things I saw while taking the course that was just wrong.  You know what I mean.  WRONG.

I’ve finished the class, passed it by the way.  Now it’s on to my WIP to completion.  She dared me to finish it.  And, I WILL.  I might add – Michelle brainstormed with me on this WIP, along with fellow Author Kerri Augusto (http://www.kerriaugusto.com ).  They were a tremendous help, but it’s still up to me to get it out of my head onto my computer screen.  Michelle managed to write 1500 words a day.  That’s how she finished her last rush job.  I think I even saw on here where she did 4000 words in one day.

My first attempt at writing is available on my site.  FREE.  It’s a promotion to launch my website.  If you have time, you might check it out, http://www.leegoshabyn.com.  The name of the e-book is Landmark Day.  It’s only 30 pages.  Check out the review from Coffee Time Romance while you’re there.

So now I’m off to put my money where my mouth is and get cracking on my WIP, but I want to thank Michelle for the invitation to blog today before I go.

It’s finally come.  Yes it’s that time again, when we make our yearly pilgrimage back to where we were born.  Unfortunately I’m not sure what my availability to the internet will be so over the next week or so you may see some guest bloggers on here.  Be nice to them and leave them all lots of great comments.  Remember, they’re fellow authors and friends who are doing me a great favor by helping me out.

So, if you are one of those sorry souls like myself that are traveling for the holiday, be sure to drive carefully and have a safe and wonderful holiday.
