What I’m reading…
Posted in Love, Romance, books, fiction, suspense on July 28th, 2008 by AdministratorJeremiah Cortez thought he’d left the past behind him –
especially the part of his past concerning Phoebe Keller. Once she had stirred his world-weary soul. Now, years later, seeing the blond beauty again sparks dormant desires. But he has to push his emotions aside — he has new ties that can’t be broken.
Phoebe thought her feelings for Cortez were buried as deep as the artifacts she studies in her museum. An expert in Native American culture, she has her doubts when an anthropologist claims to have discovered a Neanderthal skeleton on a nearby reservation. But before Phoebe can pursue the matter, the professor in question turns up dead — and the FBI sends Cortez to investigate.
Now, as the two delve further into the murder, they find themselves entangled in a world of conspiracy, deception…and a love more powerful than anything they’ve ever known.
Project Update Northern Lights
Posted in Romance, Writing, books, e-books, fiction, suspense on July 26th, 2008 by AdministratorOkay, so I hit a wall at 20k and had to take a break for a little while. After reading a bit I’m back on track and had a wonderful day writing yesterday.
Guest Blogging!
Posted in Blogroll, Life, Writing on July 23rd, 2008 by AdministratorCatch me over at Marianne Arkins blog today. I’ll be talking about balancing real life with writing, or organization as I call it.
The economy!
Posted in Life on July 22nd, 2008 by AdministratorFor months we’ve been hearing about how horrible the economy is, how the housing market has collapsed and sky high oil prices are sending the value of the dollar down and inflation soring. I thought I was seeing a bit of it with not so great sales, but recent events have proven to me that we are in a repeat of the late 70’s early 80’s housing collapse and recession.
I work part time for a pool and spa dealer and yes I’ve noticed that sales have been down this year, but more so, so have my hours and paycheck. Now take into consideration rocketing food prices (Milk nearly 5 dollars a gallon, bread nearly 4 for a single loaf) and for the first time in a long time I’m faced with some tough decisions. Our budget simply can’t comply with all that is asked of it and the extras are having to go by the wayside. No more eating out, no more weekend trips to places. No more morning Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks iced coffees. While we’re probably still better off than many, we like so many others have finally felt the impact of the situation. For now we’ll do our best to try and weather the storm, but I hope that things take a turn for the better sooner rather than later.
Isn’t this cool?
Posted in Writing on July 21st, 2008 by AdministratorOkay, I’ve tried and tried to get this to actually show up, but alas I’ve failed. So you’ll have to click on the link to see exactly how cool it really is!

One of my critique partners Anne Douglas had this on her blog not too long ago. I thought it was so cool I’d try it myself.
3rd Place
Posted in Life on July 14th, 2008 by AdministratorSo like I said on Friday we spent the weekend in York Pennsylvania at the Holiday Inn for the Fairlane Club’s National Meet. OMG was it hot. Our 69 Torino doesn’t have air conditioning, so riding over and back was a little on the hot side. We spent Friday in Gettysburg at the museum learning about the biggest battle of the Civil War. Then we went back to York and checked into the hotel. Dinner was an experience that night. We decided to go out for dinner and after a few failed attempts we landed at Hooters. Hubby and gameboy love their wings (and the sights of course). Well let me tell you it was the worst service I’d been given in a long time. We waited 10 minutes and watched people come in after us get waited on before us. I finally had to say something. Then the waitress took our drink order and never brought us our drinks. She came back to take our meal order and I had to say “Um…I thought you were getting us our drinks.” Horrible, horrible service. Hubby assures me that not all Hooters service is as bad as that. I guess I have to take his word for it.
Anyway, Saturday was the big event. The car show and meet. It was 90+ degrees in the parking lot and dollbaby wasn’t having any parts of it. So, she and I spent nearly the entire day in the hotel’s indoor swimming pool. She made friends with a 14 year old girl named Alexandra (Alex for short) who spent all afternoon playing with her. Then hubby and gameboy came to the pool in the late afternoon and got in. Of course all that pool time wore dollbaby out and she was asleep by 8:30 that night. Hubby and gameboy went to the awards banquet and came back with a 3rd place trophy for his division. Sweet!!!
Of course Sunday we got up and drove home. Again hot as hades both outside and inside the car. I think we were all glad to be home in the air conditioning, but looking back on this weekend we’ll be able to say that we had a good time.
2 for 1
Posted in Writing, e-books on July 11th, 2008 by AdministratorYep, I’m combining two posts into one here. First of all, I’m proud to say that I reached my target goal of 20k by Friday. Now if I could only write another 10k by next Friday and I’d be on a roll…lol.
Second, I’ll be in York, PA this weekend at the Fairlane Club National Meet. Yep, my hubby, the car guy, is excited to take his old car over and see some of his fellow club buddies. The kiddo’s are excited about the indoor/outdoor swimming pools, minature golf coure and arcade at the hotel and I am excited to be away from the house for 2 1/2 days. If you’re in York, come by and see the cars. It’s sure to be a fun time for all.
See you Monday!!!
What I’m reading…
Posted in books, fiction on July 9th, 2008 by AdministratorAfter the near genocide of his race, Teague Johnson now spends his life hiding in plain sight. In a city populated by humans and nightfeeders alike, he and his brother are forced to cloak themselves in forged histories in order to blend in among the hierarchy of society. When he’s not working at Oasis, the sex club he and his brother own, Teague keeps to himself. He relies on strangers to feed his sexual desires, but anything more intimate is off limits. A nosy boyfriend snooping around in his business is the last thing he needs.
Kyle Drake’s arrival at the club makes Teague rethink his favorable stance on one-night stands. From the very first touch, Teague can’t get enough of Kyle. Their weekly trysts give Teague a reason to anticipate the future — until Kyle unexpectedly disappears.
A visit from an old friend thrusts Teague’s life under a microscope and endangers everything he holds dear. Allegiances are tested, and the lines of friendship blur in a race to stop an inhuman killer. Kyle’s fate hinges on Teague’s ability to untangle the intricate web of secrets and lies before it’s too late.
New Project
Posted in Writing, books, e-books, fiction on July 8th, 2008 by AdministratorSo I’ve finally gotten my head wrapped around a new project. Actually, it’s an old project in terrible need of a complete rewrite. I’ve been sitting on it for years while waiting for the proper inspiration. That time has finally come. While I’m not ready to divulge too much information just yet, I will tell you that the tentative title is Northern Lights and when finished it will be a romantic suspense novel.
