Now the waiting begins.
Posted in Life on August 11th, 2008 by AdministratorNo, I didn’t sub another manuscript for consideration by a publisher. Though that would be cool. Unfortunately, this waiting is much more important than that. As some of you may have noticed I’ve been a bit absent over the last few days. Well, on Friday I underwent a kidney biopsy so that my doctor can determine exactly what it is that’s causing my kidney problems. I spent the days that followed laying in bed, rest and being waited on by my husband and kiddos. I’m feeling much better today as I prepare to head off to work, but now the real waiting begins.
Two weeks! Yep, you heard me, I have to wait two weeks for my test results. So keep your fingers crossed and hope for the best because it would be anything from scar tissue from an infection to a degenerative kidney disease that could result in my need for a transplant down the road. I’m going to try and busy myself by finishing a manuscript I’ve been working on and keeping busy with work and kids. Hopefully the 25th will get here before I know it and I’ll have my answers.

The economy!
Posted in Life on July 22nd, 2008 by AdministratorFor months we’ve been hearing about how horrible the economy is, how the housing market has collapsed and sky high oil prices are sending the value of the dollar down and inflation soring. I thought I was seeing a bit of it with not so great sales, but recent events have proven to me that we are in a repeat of the late 70’s early 80’s housing collapse and recession.
I work part time for a pool and spa dealer and yes I’ve noticed that sales have been down this year, but more so, so have my hours and paycheck. Now take into consideration rocketing food prices (Milk nearly 5 dollars a gallon, bread nearly 4 for a single loaf) and for the first time in a long time I’m faced with some tough decisions. Our budget simply can’t comply with all that is asked of it and the extras are having to go by the wayside. No more eating out, no more weekend trips to places. No more morning Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks iced coffees. While we’re probably still better off than many, we like so many others have finally felt the impact of the situation. For now we’ll do our best to try and weather the storm, but I hope that things take a turn for the better sooner rather than later.
3rd Place
Posted in Life on July 14th, 2008 by AdministratorSo like I said on Friday we spent the weekend in York Pennsylvania at the Holiday Inn for the Fairlane Club’s National Meet. OMG was it hot. Our 69 Torino doesn’t have air conditioning, so riding over and back was a little on the hot side. We spent Friday in Gettysburg at the museum learning about the biggest battle of the Civil War. Then we went back to York and checked into the hotel. Dinner was an experience that night. We decided to go out for dinner and after a few failed attempts we landed at Hooters. Hubby and gameboy love their wings (and the sights of course). Well let me tell you it was the worst service I’d been given in a long time. We waited 10 minutes and watched people come in after us get waited on before us. I finally had to say something. Then the waitress took our drink order and never brought us our drinks. She came back to take our meal order and I had to say “Um…I thought you were getting us our drinks.” Horrible, horrible service. Hubby assures me that not all Hooters service is as bad as that. I guess I have to take his word for it.
Anyway, Saturday was the big event. The car show and meet. It was 90+ degrees in the parking lot and dollbaby wasn’t having any parts of it. So, she and I spent nearly the entire day in the hotel’s indoor swimming pool. She made friends with a 14 year old girl named Alexandra (Alex for short) who spent all afternoon playing with her. Then hubby and gameboy came to the pool in the late afternoon and got in. Of course all that pool time wore dollbaby out and she was asleep by 8:30 that night. Hubby and gameboy went to the awards banquet and came back with a 3rd place trophy for his division. Sweet!!!
Of course Sunday we got up and drove home. Again hot as hades both outside and inside the car. I think we were all glad to be home in the air conditioning, but looking back on this weekend we’ll be able to say that we had a good time.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!
Posted in Life on July 4th, 2008 by AdministratorWhile you’re enjoying your parades and cookouts this weekend, don’t for get to take a moment to remember those who gave their all to make this great country what it is today. Then take another moment and remember those who are continuing the thankless task of keeping our country safe and free.
Have a safe and wonderful 4th of July!
When life gives you lemons…
Posted in Life on July 3rd, 2008 by AdministratorTry to find some vodka and make some hard lemonade!
Seriously though, I’ve been a bit absent from my blog and the web over the past few weeks and I figure it was about time to explain. Back in May I started not feeling so well. After a trip to my doc I ended up in a kidney specialist office with a preliminary diagnosis of Nephrotic Syndrome. Needless to say, finding out your kidneys are damaged is a scary thing. Learning that the doctor doesn’t know why is even worse. He ‘thinks’ it was caused by the same virus that causes strep throat. If untreated, it can apparently travel through the body and wreak havoc on the internal organs. Who knew?
So, in order to determine the exact cause, I’m in the process of having tests run and fighting fatigue while I wait. I’m probably facing a biopsy sometime in the next month or so. I’ll admit when my doc first mentioned it, all kinds of scary scenarios raced through my head. The word ‘biopsy’ is never associated with anything good, despite what my doctor tells me. Since then, I’ve had time to get things in perspective. Hell, I’ve given birth - twice! I’ve had needles in my back before, so what’s one more? And if it will give us the answers that will hopefully make me better, then I say bring it on. If by chance it is something worse, then at least I’ll know what I’m facing. Either way, it’s time for answers.
Meanwhile, my posts on here may be a bit sporadic, and for that I apologize. Some days are harder than others and between working a ‘real job’, taking care of my kiddos and hubby, there’s very little energy left for writing and such. I am still trying to plug away on some new projects. It’s a slow process, but I endeavor to continue and push through this bump in the road. I’m going to try and do better at keeping up on my blog so be sure to keep checking back because you never know when something blog worthy might pop up.
Thanks,
Michelle
The first review for For Better for Worse is in.
Posted in Life, Love, Romance, Writing, books, e-books, relationships on June 30th, 2008 by AdministratorThis was a great read! Michelle Cary captured all the emotions, thoughts and everyday dilemmas that wives and mothers everywhere feel, and somehow managed to turn it into a sexy, steamy, romantic voyage of rediscovering your spouse, as well as yourself.
I only have good things to say about this book, and I have never read a more real-to-life author. If you haven’t already, be sure to add Michelle Cary to your list. And while you are at it, grab yourself a copy of For Better or for Worse, you won’t be disappointed.

I survived my 1st book signing!
Posted in Life, Writing, books on June 16th, 2008 by AdministratorOn Saturday I had my very first book signing. It was held at the Borders Express in the Voorhees Town Center (formally the Echelon Mall) in Voorhees, NJ. I was so nervous that moring I didn’t eat and my husband was a gem. He not only kept the kids out of my path he took dollbaby to a friend’s birthday party that should wouldn’t have been able to attend otherwise. I walked into the store nervous as hell and wondering exactly what I was supposed to do. Thankfully for me within a few minutes of being there I sold a book and from there I found my footing and dug in.
Many people wouldn’t even look at me when they walked in. Others would give me a curious glance and say hi, but kept walking. Other’s would engage me in coversation, but didn’t purchase a book. All in all by the time my two hours was up, I’d sold six of the ten copies the store had ordered. With nothing to gauge by I can only assume that’s a good thing. At three o’clock I signed the remaining stock, packed up my things, purchased a couple of books for my kiddos, thanked the sales associates for having me and left.
The great thing is, I’ve been invited back for a second signing when my next book hits print next year!
